Peitzmeier beats ASU - Posted 03/29/2012 by Arden

Tyler Peitzmeier gets his first start and his first Victory.  Tyler Peitzmeier, who played baseball for Yutan just last spring and summer has had several brief relief appearances this spring for the Titans of California State University - Fullerton.  He has pitched short outings against Texas A&M, TCU, University of Southern California, San Diego State, and Oral Roberts.  Last night, he earned his first college start - against College World Series perennial, the Arizona State University Sun Devils.  The game was played in Tempe, Arizona, and the scrappy Sun Devils outlasted the Titans of Fullerton by one run the night before.  In their second game, Fullerton won 9-5.  Tyler picked up his first college career victory.

Peitzmeier only threw 3.1 innings, but gave up just one run and struck out 2 or 3. (At the time of this memo, the final stats had not been posted.)  Cal. State Fullerton used four total pitchers, but Tyler was credited with the victory.  Fullerton is ranked 10th - 13th in national polls.  Arizona State had been ranked 14th - 17th.

This victory was a "biggie" for Fullerton and one Tyler will never forget.  He will be home this summer playing for the Omaha Diamond Spirit and probably throwing batting practice a few times to the Yutan team he played for last summer.

2012 Up-date - Posted 12/28/2011 by Arden
Hey Everyone I hope you had a Great Christmas!!! Things with the team are going good with our initial roster about completed. I am very happy with the signings of quite a few D-1 and quality JUCO players. The D-II and D-III players are the best we've had so I am expecting a good year. Coach Gilcrist will be back to head up the team and I am still looking for an assistant to help him. We are working on hosting one of the top teams in the US to play us this summer at Werner Park and we should have this finalized within the next few weeks. More to come later-
Have a Happy New Year!!!!

World Series Recap - Posted 08/08/2011 by Arden
Well our Cinderella journey to the NBC Summer Collegiate Baseball World Series came to and end with a 5-1 loss to local favorite and Mid-West USA Champion Hayesville (KS) Heat. Even with the whole crowd cheering us on we could not muster enough runs. Having the smallest roster in the tournament did not matter to the 13 guys who were able to come and played their hearts off against 3 Regional Champions and giving them all a run for their money going 1-2 and finishing rated 19th in the Nation among the over 2000 NBC Teams. The Tournament Director (Casey Walkup) and numerous fans where very impressed with our team and the attitude and intensity they played with. They should all be proud and I know I am.
Thanks to all the players, parents, Sponsors and Host Families for helping us have a memorable summer- I hope yours was too.
Next summer is just around the corner.

Eric Campbell, General Manager of Team USA Collegiate Baseball, was the Keynote speaker at the Inaugural Omaha Diamond Spirit Baseball Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony held July 10th at Horsemen’s Park. During his speech he recognized Omaha as a very vital baseball community and praised the grass roots organizations, like Diamond Spirit and Head Coach Arden Rakosky, as the backbone of the baseball community. Over the 23 years of existence the programs have played over 1500 games and have won 896 while becoming one of the most respected and top Summer Collegiate Teams in the Midwest. Their reputation has been built by stressing the importance of the players and not the winning at all cost aspect.
